I took a sabbatical in 2016 in order to write hymn tunes suitable for a modern worship band.  The recordings are free for you to listen to, download, and share as you like.

The arrangements in these recordings deliberately include verses sung solo, in unison, and in harmony. These are not set-in-stone arrangements, but are designed to contain examples of how they might sound in those configurations. You are encouraged to adapt them as is best for your context.

Apart from "Exalted", these tunes are not tied to their texts. Rather they were written for common metres found in all traditional hymn books. For example "Abide With Me" can be sung to Abelard, "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing" can be sung to Pantocrator, and so on. The texts in these recordings were taken from my own tradition, but music directors are encouraged to set your own texts to these tunes, whether from your own hymn book or newly written for the purpose.

Sheet music and other resources are available for download further down this page.

I am grateful to The Louisville Institute for having provided a Pastoral Studies grant for the original recordings.

New Releases
